General Dental Services

Cathedral Dental's experienced team of dentists in Regina offer a number of general dentistry services while helping you establish a customized dental hygiene plan for your age, health, and dental needs.

Dental Examinations

We provide thorough dental exams, which the Canadian Dental Association recommends you receive every 6 months. Using advanced tools and expert techniques, we examine your teeth, gums, tongue, roof of your mouth, and cheeks. We look for cavities, signs of gum disease, canker sores, or any other abnormalities. We also check for worn crowns or previous dental work that needs repair or correction. Regular dental exams can often prevent dental problems and diagnose conditions early to ensure easy treatment and fast recovery.

Teeth Cleaning

As a primary part of the exam, Cathedral Dental also provides teeth cleaning. This includes the removal of plaque and tarter using high-grade dental tools. We also brush your teeth with professional tooth brushes, toothpaste, and rinsing agents, followed by a fluoride treatment for extra protection and deep cleaning.

Teeth Whitening

Drinking a lot of coffee and tea can yellow your teeth, but our teeth whitening services are the solution. Using trays with whitening paste, we place them over your teeth, allowing the whitening agents to dissolve residue and restore your teeth’s white enamel. Depending on the degree of whitening you need, you may require multiple treatments over the course of several weeks. Cathedral Dental's staff can recommend a customized whitening regime to get you the pearly white smile you’ve been looking for.

X-rays are done throughout a child’s development of adult teeth and the growth of their gums and jaw. They are used to detect abnormal bone growth, teeth crowding, show the progress of wisdom teeth growth, and more. There are 4 types of x-rays used in dentistry—bitewing, periapical, occlusal, and panoramic. Taken separately or together, they show bone loss and find impacted teeth, abscesses, extra teeth, jaw fractures, or infections. We recommend x-rays for adults as well as children, usually done once per year or as needed.

Cathedral Dental uses the most modern fillings technology to stop the process of cavities and save the tooth. The cavity area is removed and filled in with a clear resin to seal off the decayed area and protect the rest of the tooth from bacteria.

In some occasions, the best or only option may be to extract, or pull, the tooth. We make every effort to save the tooth before resorting to extractions, but removing a tooth can alleviate the pain of a decayed tooth and prevent any infection from spreading to the surrounding teeth. Extracted teeth can later be replaced with a bridge or veneer.

Also known as a crown, capping involves placing a tooth-shaped cap over a tooth to restore size, shape, and strength while improving the appearance. Our dentists cement the cap in place, fully incasing the visible portion of the tooth.

Cathedral Dental also offers bridgework, which bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It contains two or more crowns for the teeth on either side, with a false tooth in between. Restore confidence in your smile and your ability to chew with ease with our high quality bridge products. We also correct and repair poorly implanted bridges.
